President Donald Trump is pushing back against former President Joe Biden’s climate policies with executive orders aimed at boosting domestic fossil fuel production.
These orders declare an “energy emergency,” which could protect some actions from legal challenges but not all. According to Just the News, this could be the most significant shift in U.S. energy policy since the 1973 OPEC oil export ban.
After taking office, Biden signed orders to rejoin the Paris Agreement and implemented climate regulations, including new appliance efficiency standards and halting LNG export permits. Trump’s new measures focus on critical mineral mining for national security, expediting energy approvals on public lands, and streamlining infrastructure development. He also supports offshore drilling and reverses many of Biden’s climate policies, including pulling the U.S. out of the Paris Agreement.
Jeff Reynolds from Restoration News suggested that Trump’s more aggressive stance reflects his growing frustration after observing the left’s actions under Biden’s presidency, especially after initially showing more patience during his first term.
