A recent study found Jackson, Mississippi, to be the least favorable city for women, scoring just 23.41 out of 100 on a female-friendly scale. WalletHub’s study evaluated US cities based on safety, job opportunities, and more, with Jackson ranking lowest for economic and social conditions. Gulfport, Mississippi, wasn’t far behind, while other cities like Brownsville, Texas, Augusta, Georgia, and Shreveport, Louisiana also scored poorly.
Columbia, Maryland, topped the list as the best city for women, with a score of 76.31, thanks to high wages, low unemployment, and a strong presence of women-owned businesses. California cities dominated the top rankings, with Fremont, Huntington Beach, Irvine, and San Francisco among the best. New York City ranked 89th with a score of 51.8, while nearby Jersey City scored 62.45, ranking 20th.
