Rep. Donald Norcross Released from ICU, Continues Recovery
New Jersey Democrat Rep. Donald Norcross has been moved out of the ICU at Cooper University Health Care in Camden after several weeks of hospitalization due to a sudden medical issue, likely related to his gallbladder. His condition has improved, and he has completed a course of antibiotics, according to his office.
Norcross, 66, was first admitted to UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh. He is in good spirits and thankful to the medical teams at both hospitals. Once cleared to fly, he will return to South Jersey to complete his recovery.
Norcross, a former union leader, has represented New Jersey’s 1st Congressional District since 2014. It’s unclear when he will resume his congressional duties.
His absence comes as the House prepares for key votes, including a budget plan and voter ID legislation. The Democratic caucus has already been impacted by the recent deaths of Reps. Sylvester Turner and Raul Grijalva.
Meanwhile, a new poll shows former President Trump’s approval rating has climbed to 53%, with notable gains among young voters, Democrats, independents, and Black voters, despite backlash over recent trade tariffs.
