I Couldn’t Get Why My Husband Spends So Much Time in the Bathroom Until I Saw a Video in His Phone
When I knocked on the bathroom door and heard my husband’s strained voice, I knew something wasn’t right. But nothing prepared me for the real reason he’d been hiding behind that locked door for months.
Liam and I have been married for 25 years, and life was generally comfortable. But recently, something felt off. The oddest change? Liam’s new obsession with the bathroom. He’d always been quick in there, but six months ago, he started disappearing for hours. I didn’t think much of it at first, but then I heard strange noises—thuds, grunts, and heavy breathing.
Curiosity gnawed at me. When I asked him about it, he brushed it off, claiming he just needed privacy. But the secrecy continued, and I couldn’t shake the feeling something was wrong. One day, I answered his phone to find a message from his mom, but as I went to lock it, I noticed an open video—Liam working out in the bathroom.
Relief washed over me. He was just exercising, not hiding something sinister. I knocked on the door. “Liam, open up. We need to talk.”
He hesitated but eventually opened the door, flushed and sweaty, holding a resistance band. “You saw the video, didn’t you?” he said quietly.
Turns out, he’d gained weight and was embarrassed to let me see. He’d been secretly working out with an online coach, not hiding an affair. “I didn’t want you to worry,” he said.
I couldn’t help but laugh. “Liam, you could’ve just told me! I would’ve supported you!”
He sheepishly apologized, and we both agreed that no more secrets were needed. We joked about doing yoga together, and the tension between us finally lifted.
“Next time, just let me in, okay?” I said, smiling.
“Okay,” he whispered, pulling me into a hug, and everything felt right again.
