The newly created Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, has rapidly made cuts, saving about $1 billion by eliminating 85 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEI) contracts across 24 federal agencies, including Education, Labor, Defense, and EPA.
The Office of Personnel Management saw the largest cuts, totaling nearly $500 million. Other agencies, like Agriculture, Homeland Security, and Health and Human Services, also experienced reductions.
Vivek Ramaswamy, initially involved in DOGE, is stepping away to run for Ohio governor. He confirmed his departure, expressing support for DOGE’s goals and Trump’s campaign. Ramaswamy had been a strong Trump ally during his presidential bid but endorsed Trump after exiting the race.
