Dr. Anthony Fauci’s inflated ego took a hit from President Donald Trump.
According to a report from *The Western Journal*, the Elon Musk-led Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) discovered that the federal government had allocated $168,000 for a Fauci exhibit at the National Institutes of Health Museum.
However, on Friday, DOGE announced that it had canceled the contract.
This news coincided with the Department of Health and Human Services revealing that it had “canceled 62 contracts worth $182 million” that had no connection to medical care or scientific progress.
DOGE explained, “These contracts were purely for administrative costs—none supported healthcare initiatives.”
A screenshot of the Fauci exhibit contract posted by DOGE showed that it was signed in late October 2024 and set to be completed by July 2025. This suggests that Musk’s government reform initiative may have found and halted the contract just in time.
The contract was set to cover project management, site visits, design consultation, display details and samples, an introductory panel, and related support structures.
In just its first 10 days of operation, DOGE saved nearly $1 billion by canceling 85 Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (DEI)-related contracts across 24 federal agencies, including the Department of Education, Department of Labor, Department of Treasury, Department of Defense, USDA, Homeland Security, and the EPA.
As of January 29, 2025, these DEIA-related cuts amounted to about $1 billion, according to DOGE’s statement on X.
The Office of Personnel Management bore the brunt of these cuts, with nearly $500 million in canceled contracts. The Department of Agriculture followed with nearly $110 million in reductions, and other departments saw cuts ranging from millions to tens of millions.
In January, Vivek Ramaswamy, a biotech entrepreneur and a co-leader of DOGE alongside Musk, announced he would be stepping down from his role with the initiative to focus on his campaign for Ohio governor.
Ramaswamy expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to help create DOGE and reiterated his commitment to supporting President Trump’s efforts to make America great again.
