A federal judge signaled on Wednesday that he is likely to release Prince Harry’s immigration records, which could reveal whether the Duke of Sussex was properly granted a U.S. visa or lied about his past drug use, potentially leading to deportation.
The case stems from a lawsuit filed by the Heritage Foundation against the Department of Homeland Security, seeking the release of the duke’s records. Judge Carl J. Nichols emphasized his duty to disclose as much as possible while respecting privacy laws and will review any redactions before making a decision.
The Heritage Foundation suspects Harry did not disclose his drug use on his visa application, and if he received a special waiver, it would be documented with DHS. The case has drawn attention to whether Harry was treated preferentially and whether U.S. immigration laws were fairly applied.
