The newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), led by Elon Musk, has quickly made strides, cutting nearly $1 billion in spending by canceling 85 DEI-related contracts across 24 federal agencies, including the Department of Education, Labor, and Defense.
The largest cuts came from the Office of Personnel Management ($500 million) and the Department of Agriculture ($110 million), with other agencies like Homeland Security, HHS, and the EPA also seeing reductions.
Vivek Ramaswamy, who had helped launch DOGE alongside Musk, is stepping down to focus on his upcoming campaign for Ohio governor. Ramaswamy had been a vocal supporter of Trump and is expected to announce his candidacy soon. His decision follows Ohio Governor Mike DeWine’s appointment of Lt. Gov. Jon Husted to the U.S. Senate, prompting Ramaswamy to shift his focus to state-level politics.
