A man constantly belittles his unemployed wife, Sara, for not doing enough at home, especially when he needs support for a big presentation. One day, after a heated argument over a missing shirt, he storms out, thinking he’ll return victorious with a promotion. However, when Harry comes back home, he finds a note from Sara saying she wants a divorce.
Sara, feeling unappreciated and exhausted from constantly supporting Harry while putting her own dreams aside, is done with the marriage. After a health scare that lands her in the hospital, she confronts Harry, expressing her need for a divorce. In the days that follow, Harry tries to navigate his new life, but things only seem to spiral. He struggles to balance work and parenting, which leads to a decline in his job performance. When he loses his job, the reality of his situation hits hard. At a pub, his boss breaks the news, leaving Harry stunned and desperate.
Just as Harry begins to unravel, he gets a call from Sara asking to meet. At the café where they first met, she informs him that she wants custody of their children, and Harry is furious. He accuses her of abandoning them, but Sara is resolute. The matter will go to court.
The custody battle is intense. In court, Harry admits that he couldn’t juggle work and family, leading to his firing. Sara reveals that her breakdown was the reason she left, but she’s now ready to take responsibility and raise their children. Despite Harry’s efforts to show he’s doing his best, the judge rules that Sara will have custody, and Harry will have visitation rights.
As Sara prepares to take the kids, the reality of the separation sets in. Cody, their older son, stops Sara as she’s about to leave and says, “You’re just tearing us apart.” Sonny echoes his sentiment, wanting both parents.
